Why IT projects fail.

Few IT projects fail because of technology. They fail from a lack of steering – usually in the same places:

The project starts with an idea instead of a specification. Every open question comes back later as a change request – with a price tag.

The implementation partner has a project manager – but they represent the partner’s interests. On the client side there is no counterpart challenging estimates and enforcing deadlines.

  • We build software ourselves – We judge estimates, architecture decisions and code quality from our own development practice – vendors notice in the first meeting.
  • Vendor-neutral – No partner contracts with SAP, Microsoft or agencies. Our recommendation follows your benefit, not commissions.
  • Methods over dogma – Agile, classic or hybrid – we pick the approach that fits the project and the organisation, not the textbook.

Frequently asked questions about IT project management.

What does external IT project management cost?

We bill by daily rate and actual capacity – often 1–3 days per week are enough. After the initial conversation you receive a proposal with role, scope and duration. Compared with a delayed or failed project, external project management is almost always the cheaper line item.

Do you work on site or remotely?

Both. Workshops, steering committees and go-live phases preferably on site – in Saxony (Dresden, Leipzig, Chemnitz) in any case, beyond that by arrangement. Day-to-day steering works demonstrably well remotely.

How quickly are you available?

For interim assignments and project reviews typically within days to a few weeks. Just ask – we’ll tell you immediately what’s realistic.

Agile or classic – which do you use?

Whatever fits the project. Software development usually runs agile (Scrum/Kanban); ERP implementations run hybrid with clear phases and milestones. What matters is not the method but that responsibilities, progress and risks are transparent at all times.

Do you also take over projects in trouble?

Yes – that is a core case of our interim management. We start with an honest review, stabilise the critical points and bring the project back into a manageable state.

What is the difference between project management and interim management?

Project management relates to one initiative (e.g. an ERP implementation). Interim management additionally fills a vacant role for a limited time – such as leading the software development team – including leadership, processes and handover to a successor.
